Big and small. Close and far. Real and imagined.

More / Less is a call for photographs that explore the push and pull between the monumental and the miniature. This theme was inspired by the 20/20 Photo Festival’s overarching focus on Structures—both literal and conceptual. In response, we invite work that reflects on the structure of scale, perspective, and power: how visual framing can elevate or diminish, clarify or distort.

We’re looking for images that play with scale—literally or metaphorically. How do we make something feel huge, even if it’s small? How does something massive lose meaning when we pull away? This could be a tiny object shot like a monolith, or a sprawling space made to feel intimate. A toy world that looks real. A real world that feels fake.
This is a theme about power and perspective. Personal memory can tower like a skyscraper. A massive building can feel hollow and insignificant. Use scale to distort, reveal, exaggerate, or shrink what matters.

What’s included:

  • Selected artists will be published in a printed zine that will be presented during the 20/20 Photo Festival book fair(September 4–7) at Cherry Street Pier, Philadelphia. The zine will be featured at the Float Magazine book table and displayed alongside an exhibition.

  • A select group of artists from the zine will also be invited to exhibit their image(s) in a month-long exhibition as part of the festival (September 5–28). Exhibition prints will be produced at no additional cost to the artist by Butterfield Editions and displayed on magnetic walls beside the zine.

  • We’ll also host a zine launch and reception during the book fair. (Details coming soon!)
